SimPE-Knowledgebase

May 14th, 2007

Today we are proud to introduce the SimPE-Knowledgebase. It shall be filled with articles regarding SimPE that are quite easier to find than those in the deeps of the forum, due to a category system and a search.

You can reach the knowledgebase via the link http://sims.ambertation.de/en/kb/

At the moment the number of articles in the database is somewhat limited, due to the facht, that the system is quite new. You can help to fill it:

First you can post suggestions for new articles in the forum, you either point us to a post that should be made into an article or you post a question to be put into the database.

Please note: The knowledgebase is a compilation of articles about technical aspects around SimPE and not about Modding The Sims 2. There are lots of resources about the latter available on the web and to include those would be way out of scope.

The management of such a database of articles is quite some work, so we are looking for people willing to help us with it. Qualifications: Substancial knowledge of SimPE, the ability to write understandable articles in good english and a basic knowledge of web-applications (if you are able to use a forum, you will have no problems with the knowledgebase software).

If you want to contribute, please notify us in the forum.

CEP 6.0

May 5th, 2007

A while back, Numenor has published the CEP 6.0 for The Sims 2 - Seasons. Please remember, that you need that updated CEP for recolors of Season Objects. You can download the CEP from http://sims.ambertation.de/en/cep/ for both WIndows and Mac.

As allways, I’d like to thank Numenor for his dedication and constant updates to the CEP.

SimPE for “The Sims 2 - Seasons”

May 1st, 2007

The long awaited SimPE that is able to deal with “Seasons” is available. The reasons why it took longer than usual are (besides others) the neccessary changes and updates for the Celebration!-pack, some ugly bugs that needed to be purged and fixes to enhance compatibility with Windows Vista.

The most important change is of course the support for “Sims 2 - Seasons” and “Sims 2 - Celebration!”. Furthermore SimPE now supports “Sims 2 - Life Stories”. If the Object Workshop shows elements from LifeStories or the regular game has to be set in Extras->Preferences on the FileTable page. You can either show objects from LifeStories or the other games, but not both.

The FileTable, the tool to manage available files and folders, got a makeover. This was neccessary for a better support of LifeStories and Celebration!.

SimPE now should work a lot more stable in Windows Vista and it should blend better in with it. Rene created Vista compatible icons for example. Lesser bugs (e.g. splashscreen) will be fixed in the near future.

Until this version you possibly got errors when setting charactertraits of pets. This should be fixed now. The family tree editor also was enhanced, it is now possible to make a Sim sticky. With this feature it is way more comfortable to create links between Sims residing in different households.

Of course this release of SimPE includes an updated version of the PJSE (many thanks to Peter and Inge).

SimPE 0.62 now comes with Italian (thanks to sims2cri), French (thanks to deeVo) and Russian (thanks to Necromante) translations.

Also thanks to Xanathon for his help with the release and to all who helped purging errors in the QA.

You can get SimPE 0.62 on the usual download-page. It is recommended to do a clean install.

The Sims 2 - Seasons

March 2nd, 2007

With the new Seasons Expansion for The Sims 2 coming up, you might start to wonder when SimPE will support it.

As always, I can’t tell. I’ll get my copy of the expansion by tomorrow, so I will start working on it then. I think that Peter and Inge will also start working on the PJSE as soon as they get their copies. But we can not predict a release date.

The next Version will also (in a way) support the new Sims Life Stories

Small Update

December 4th, 2006

SimPE 0.60b fixes some bugs I introduced with the last release. For example, the SystemPaths in Extras->Preferences… did not show up under certain circumstances, or the FileTable would probably not deactivate EP’s if you did not install every single one that is available. Same problem occured in the System Check too. Both are fixed in 0.60b.

SimPE will check the version of the available .NET Framework when it starts, and will not open the GUI, if 2.0 was not found on the system.

You can now add and delete Pet Behaviours in the SCOR-Wrapper (access it through the More-button in the SDE (Sim Description Editor)). Using the random function in the SDE will work again.

I also removed references to libraries not compatible with Windows Vista, and tried to make SimPE work on Windows 98 (and older) again.

SimPE now includes a russian (by Necromante) and french (by DeeVo) translation.
