Today SimPE version 0.60 was released to the public, this version is able to handle the expansion pack “Pets”.
Aside of the neccessary extensive changes due to the advent of Pets, from this version on SimPE is compiled against the .NET framework 2.0 (and not it’s predecessor .NET 1.1). This means that you have to install the .NET Framewok 2.0 before you are able to use SimPE 0.60. .NET 2.0 and 1.1 can reside together on you computer without any problems.
Warning: Because of the high expectations of the users to get a SimPE that is able to handle the expansion pack “Pets” this is somewhat of a prerelease, so expect bugs. Please report any bugs (if you find them) to the SimPE-Forum. Furthermore we would strongly advise to backup your game-saves and downloads.
Numenor also created a new CEP, that enables several Pet items, so please also download the CEP.

I have created a new Version of the No Censor Blur available, that will now work 100% with The Sims 2 - Pets (Older Versions are also available).
As you might know, this patch works with almost any game version and does not cause conflicts with other hacks or downloads for your game. Since it is only changing the shader that is producing the blur grid, it is probably the safest way to remove the blur from your game. And it has no permanent effects. When you delete the patch, the blur just works as usual.
For more Informations or to download the patch, please visit the No Blur Page.

It is that time of year again
. In a few days time you will be able to buy The Sims 2 - Pets. As always, this means that you can not use SimPE safely with the new Expansion, until we will provide an update release.
Since we had some people complaining that the time estimate was wrong after the Business release, I decided that I won’t give a timeframe for this. We will notify you as soon as 0.60 is available (on this site, through our RSS-Feed and of cource through the SimPE update check (at least if you didn’t deactivate it)).
But be prepared! The next SimPE brings a big change. It is no longer running using .NET 1.1, but only .NET 2.0, which you can download from Microsoft and install it parallel to .NET 1.1 (that means you do not have to uninstall .NET 1.1).
So long, and have fun with your Pets for your Sims.

A new release for SimPE 0.58 is available for download now. The only new feature is support for The Sims 2 Glamour Life Stuff.
Release 0.58b runs - as usual - with .NET 1.1, but marks tha last SimPE Version that is compatible with .NET 1.1. All future releases (including the upcoming Pets Expansion) will only run with .NET 2.0. Please read this Thread for details.

Well, the time has come to discuss .NET 2.0
So far SimPE is compiled against .NET 1.1, so it only runs on machines that have the .NET 1.1 Framework installed. If you only had 2.0 available on your System, the only thing you got were error messages.
.NET 2.0 will be part of the upcoming Windows Vista, and Microsoft offers a completley free (for non commercial useage) Development Environment called Visual Studio 2005 Express. That IDE is much more productive than VisualStudio 2003 (which I currently use to develop SimPE). The Projects (=Solutions) generated with VS2005 are also compatible with SharpDevelop 2, and OpenSource IDE for .NET and Mono. That would allow more Developers to contribute the the SimPE Project.
Another advantage is, that .NET 2.0 can be used on Machines running in 64-Bit Mode.
So why am I telling you about all this? Continue reading in this Thread in the SimPE-Forum.
